“A Plastic Ocean”
– A Film To Make A Difference
We are hosting a screening of “A Plastic Ocean” at Hong Kong Academy Theatre on 5th Nov FOR FREE!
“A Plastic Ocean” is a new feature-length adventure documentary that brings to light the consequences of our global disposable lifestyle. We thought we could use plastic once and throw it away with negligible impact to humans and animals. That turns out to be untrue.
“A Plastic Ocean” begins when journalist Craig Leeson, searching for the elusive blue whale, discovers plastic waste in what should be pristine ocean. In this adventure documentary, Craig teams up with free diver Tanya Streeter and an international team of scientists and researchers, and they travel to twenty locations around the world over the next four years to explore the fragile state of our oceans, uncover alarming truths about plastic pollution, and reveal working solutions that can be put into immediate effect.
We will kayak together to an island near Sai Kung and cleanup the coastline. Recruit friends and family to join you in a larger cleanup. Explain to them that no matter where you live—whether on the coast or hundreds of miles inland— all waterways lead to the ocean. But if we take action and work together, we can improve the ocean’s health and make rubbish free seas a reality.
We love working alongside dedicated volunteers to pick up everyday items like straws, wrappers, cigarette butts, and other rubbish and help to stop it from harming our ecosystem. Please join us and our partners as we work to create a rubbish free environment!
